What should I include for cholesterol treatment?
State the treatment you currently use, its existing instructions and any changes since your previous assessment. Include relevant history and any concerns you want the doctor to consider. If you have recent results, provide the actual result information and date rather than an interpretation generated by an online tool.
What should I include for thyroid treatment?
Describe your existing treatment and any recent changes or symptoms. Tell the doctor about the monitoring information or blood results available to you. A familiar medicine name does not tell the doctor whether the same prescription remains appropriate now.
This page does not distinguish treatments for you or suggest a dose. Do not use it to decide what thyroid medication to request.
Must I arrange blood tests before applying?
This page sets no blanket testing requirement or testing interval. The reviewing doctor decides whether existing information is sufficient and whether results or further assessment are needed. If a result is unavailable, state that clearly.
A request may be redirected to consultation or in-person care when an online renewal is not appropriate. Submission and payment do not guarantee a prescription.
What if I have a new concern?
Choose the R320 online consultation route for a new symptom, concern or fuller assessment where online care is suitable. Do not present a proposed change of treatment as a routine repeat. Requests needing examination or urgent treatment must be directed to appropriate care.
If a renewal is approved, the prescription is sent directly to your selected pharmacy. Check the branch details and your application before personally submitting it.
Important service limitations
Every request is independently reviewed by a registered South African medical doctor. Submission and payment do not guarantee that a prescription will be issued. Schedule 6 medication is excluded from the online service.
FM Med is not an emergency service. Requests needing examination, urgent treatment or in-person assessment must be redirected to appropriate care. Do not wait for an online response if urgent care is needed.
