What does an online consultation cost?
An FM Med online consultation costs R320 or by selected medical aids, or may be covered by an eligible ScriptMe subscription. The fee is for a doctor’s assessment. Payment does not guarantee a prescription, sick note or any particular clinical outcome. Read the service terms and patient FAQ before submitting.
Is a consultation or a prescription renewal the right route?
Choose a consultation for a new symptom, medical concern or a matter needing fuller assessment. For qualifying existing stable chronic treatment, the R258 repeat-prescription renewal may be the appropriate starting point. A doctor decides whether online assessment is sufficient. Compare the two services.
How do I request an online doctor consultation?
- Open the online consultation form and enter your own details, symptoms and relevant medical history accurately.
- Select your pharmacy and check the branch details. Review your information and submit the request yourself.
- A registered South African medical doctor assesses the request and may ask follow-up questions.
- Receive the doctor’s next steps. If a prescription is approved, FM Med sends it directly to your selected pharmacy.
Who assesses my request, and when?
FM Med’s doctors include Dr R.F. Odendaal and Dr M. Vosloo. Clinical decisions are made independently by a registered South African medical doctor. Requests are attended during practice hours: Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 and Saturday 08:00–14:00, South African time. Consultation and repeat-prescription requests are normally reviewed during business hours. We may occasionally review requests outside these hours, depending on availability. After-hours responses may take longer; availability and response times are not guaranteed. The service is available to patients throughout South Africa; it is not a guaranteed immediate appointment.
What are the limits of online care?
A doctor may require an examination, tests or an in-person assessment. Submission and payment do not guarantee a prescription. Schedule 6 medication is excluded from the online service.
FM Med is not an emergency service. If urgent care is needed, seek appropriate urgent or emergency care rather than waiting for an online response.
How can I get help with my request?
Contact support@fmmed.co.za for service support. If you selected the wrong pharmacy or cannot find an approved prescription, contact support before submitting another paid request.
